Earlier this year, the club learned that Dick and Fay Stout had lost their home to a tornado in Texas. Dick was a founding member not only of the Mid-Jersey Club but also the Federation. To say he’s dedicated to the hobby would be an understatement. Dick is an honorary member of our club and is on the club’s email forwarding list. Dick wrote me after my email pointed him to our website. He gave me permission to re-print his letter in this blog. There’s a link in Dick’s letter to his blog and his recounting of the harrowing experience of living through a Category 4 tornado and dealing with the aftermath. Here’s Dick’s letter: Hi Amy, good to hear from you.... So glad the club updated the website. The old one was pretty dated. This one looks great. Hopefully the club will participate and support it. Fay and I are doing better, though it’s been a difficult time. Tornados always happened to “someone else”......this time around we were that someone. I shared the story on my blog if anyone is interested in the details. https://stoutstandards.wordpress.com/2016/01/21/twas-the-night-after-christmas/ We decided we are too old to rebuild, and recently bought another house. We have not moved in yet, but we are working hard to make that happen. It will take a long time to make it a home in that we lost a lot of memories in the old one, and not sure we will ever get back to some sort of normal. On the positive side we lived through it and for that we are very thankful. Please say hi to everyone in the club.... Dick www.stoutstandards.wordpress.com Dick, our thoughts are with you and Fay. We're so glad you're alright and may the rebuilding of your home and your lives go as quickly, smoothly and painlessly as possible!
